Therapy for Burnout and Perfectionism in California

You keep getting things done, but it takes more out of you than it used to. Rest can feel uncomfortable when there is always something else to finish. Even when you meet a goal, the relief may be brief before the next expectation takes over.

I’m Eunice Lim, LMFT, ATR. I offer online therapy for women in California who feel worn down by overworking, perfectionism, and the pressure to hold everything together.

When being dependable leaves little room for you

You may be the person others rely on while quietly feeling depleted, irritable, or disconnected. You might take on extra responsibilities, struggle to stop working, or feel guilty when you aren’t productive. Perfectionism can make even a small task feel high stakes.

We can explore what you’re carrying and what is realistically changeable. Work conditions, caregiving demands, finances, and unequal expectations matter. Therapy can help you consider your options without treating an unsustainable situation as a personal failure.

How I help with burnout and perfectionism

We begin by noticing where your energy goes, what you need, and what happens when you try to slow down. We can explore the beliefs and relationships that make it difficult to set limits, ask for help, or leave something unfinished.

IFS-informed parts work can help us understand a part that keeps pushing and another that feels exhausted or wants to withdraw. We can get curious about what each is concerned about and look for responses that take both seriously.

Art therapy offers a way to explore these patterns as they happen. For example, we might try simple marks without a finished product in mind, then notice whether an urge to correct, compare, or make it worthwhile appears. That gives us something concrete to work with together. You don’t need art experience, and you can choose a different way to explore.

Body awareness and grounding can help you recognize signs that you need a pause. Alongside this, we can work on practical changes such as communicating a limit, asking for support, or reconsidering an expectation that no longer fits.

Making room for a life beyond getting things done

Your goals might include noticing depletion sooner, making a decision based on capacity, or allowing an enjoyable activity to matter without producing a result. We’ll choose manageable steps and check whether they help in your actual circumstances.
